It all starts when a car explodes in the middle of a barbecue in an elite community. Then a bomb threat at school, followed by the disappearance of one of the community members. Finally, a sighting of Reagan's husband, who was supposed to be dead for two years. How can so much be happening where it was supposed to be the safest places? Maybe they're all going crazy.
3.5, rounded up.
I had been skeptical, but it does have a feeling of Liane Moriarty, and not only because we get the points of view of three woman in a tight high-class community. There is all that family problems mixed with dead bodies and sketchy teenagers that I've always considered to be Moriarty's trademark.
In any case, this was the quickest read I had in a long, long time. Both because it is quite easy to read, and because I wanted to know more. Also, it wasn't even that I wanted to get to the bottom of the mystery—I did want to know too—but there was something fun, especially for Andi's part, in guessing how far she'd get. Yes, it was all very fun. Sure, things do get more serious eventually, but for a lot of the book it was mysterious and above all fun.
However, this is probably just meant to be a fun read. I find that the characters were better developed in this book than in the previous one I had read by the author, but there was still something out of place with them. However, as long as you read it lightly, it's just super funny how dumb every and each of them can be.
Of course I'll be recommending this read. You get fun, mystery, explosions, murder, great cliffhangers—you'll be flipping those pages without even noticing.
