This was a nice, well-written thriller with a tall pile of mysteries waiting for you to solve. It'll make you wary of your own shadow. 3.5, rounding up to 4 stars.

Vanessa's marriage is over and now she has to start it all over again, put behind her old life with Richard, forget it all, her mistakes, her regrets. But now he has another in her place, how can she? Vanessa just can't stop thinking of his new woman. Once, her best friend and roommate had called Richard Nellie's Prince, the one who would come and save her. But ever since they got engaged, Nellie started receiving phone calls that won't let her sleep, could it be the previous woman? The questions just pile up.

This was a thriller I couldn't help but think of The Woman on the Train. unfortunately, the comparison had two effects: I couldn't like Vanessa and I could easily find out one of the supposedly big mysteries. In other words, I can't call this book unpredictable. I didn't really get everything right from the beginning but the tricks weren't so smart and I always felt one or two steps ahead.

Even though I was more and more sure I had it right as I advanced, the story was still interesting. I liked the events as they happened. I wasn't bored at all. And let me make it clear, Vanessa isn't the same as Paula Hawkins' Rachel. Not at all. And the more she proved it, the more I liked the book. I closed the book without really warming up to the character, though.

This wasn't perfect, I think it could have been better with few changes, but it was surely enjoyable. I remember literally going "Aha!" as I read the last revelation from the pile. You see the care they had preparing, scheming all the plot, and that really makes me satisfied, feel respected as a reader. I'm eager for what these authors will write next.
